Founding of the Hellenic Philatelic Society (HPS), the country's oldest and largest philatelic association.

1925

The HPS proposes to the Hellenic Post Office (up until 1970) the themes of stamp issues.

1926

Establishment of the Association of Stamp Traders.

1927

Representation of Greece by the HPS in the International Philatelic Federation (FIP).

1928

Establishment of an Advisory Committee in the Hellenic Post, with the participation of a permanent philatelic committee.

1929

Organization of the first philatelic exhibition in Greece.

1930

Adoption of Law 4581 "on forged and counterfeiting", following a proposal by the HPS.

1930

Adoption of the burning of out-of-circulation stamps, following a recommendation by the HPS.

1931

Publication of the "Study on the Greek Stamp" by the HPS.

1933

International prize awarded to the airmail stamp series by D. Biskinis.

1935

Establishment of an Advisory Council of the Hellenic Post, with the participation of the HPS, to suggest themes for a new series of stamps

1938

Nick. Alfieris was awarded the Grand Honorary Distinction Prize at the Prague International Fair.

1938

A Military Postal Service, known as the "Postal Sectors", begins operations

1940

Establishment of the Hellenic Philatelic Association of America in New York.

1942

Establishment of the Hellenic Philatelic Federation (HPF)

1947

Nick Alfieris is awarded the Grand Prize of honorary distinction at the International ΙΜΑΒΑ Fair in Basel, Switzerland

1948

The stamp designed by I. Kefallinos for the anniversary of the World Postal Union was selected among the ten best stamps of the year worldwide.

1950

The Airmail Stamp series by Dem. Biskinis wins a prize at the World Philatelic Congress in Buenos Aires.

1951

The Greek collection of Al. Argyropoulos wins the Grand Prize at the "Lisboa" International Exhibition.

1953

The stamp of Alexander the Great was designed by Kefallinos and was selected among the ten best stamps of the year worldwide.

1954

An honorary distinction is awarded to Al. Argyropoulos at the international exhibition Stockholmia.

1954

Al. Argyropoulos signs the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists (RDP)

1955

Establishment of the Philatelic Service of the Hellenic Post

1957

The stamp "Argo" by Tassos Alevizos is selected among the ten best stamps of the year worldwide.

1958

Establishment of the Museum of the History of the Olympic Games in Ancient Olympia by donation of the collection of Olympic stamps by G. Papastefanou.

1961

The Philatelic Society of Piraeus organizes the first competitive Philatelic exhibition.

1962

The HPS organizes the first national philatelic exhibition.

1966

Establishment of the Philatelic and Postal Museum

1966

World Post Day (October 9) is established.

1969

Stamp Day (November 15) is established by a proposal of the HPF

1972

The Academy of Athens awards HPF.

1975

The Philatelic and Postal Museum is inaugurated at the building that Andreas and Nia Stratou donated.

HPF organizes "Balkanfila" in Athens

1979

Award of B. Constantineas with the European Prize of Philatelic Art in Paris for the stamp "Europa CEPT 1983".

1983

Organization of the National Philatelic Exhibition EFE HELLAS 84 participating collectors from 13 countries.

1984

The Municipality of Athens awards the HPS for its contribution to culture.

1984

Award to A. Kantinopoulos at the Europhilex exhibition of the European Philatelic Federation (FEPA) in Nicosia, Cyprus.

1995

Award to K. Matthew at the Capex exhibition of the International Philatelic Federation (FIP) in Toronto, Canada.

1996

Organization of the World Olympic and Sports Stamp Exhibition 1896-1996 at Zappeion Megaron

1996

Election of Antonis Virvilis as a member of the Board of Directors of FEPA, a position he held until 2008.

1997

FEPA honours the HPS for its activities and publication of "Philotelia".

2000

A. Virvilis was elected chairman of the FIP Philology Committee and re-elected in 2012.

2008

Philotelia is awarded to The Philatelic Press Award of the European Philatelic Society (AEP)

2010

The Hellenic Post organizates an exhibition at Zappeion Megaron celebrating the 150 years of the Greek Stamp

2011

Yiannis Gourzis creates the copper stamp "Hermes 2011."

2011

Myrsini Vardopoulou is honoured with the 1st International Award ASIAGO Philatelic Art for the "Europa 2010 – Children's Books" composition.

2011

The volume "Opus XIII" of AEP is dedicated to Greek philately.

2013

A. Virvilis signs the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists (RDP)

2013

M. Vardopoulou is awarded in Lausanne with the Prix Olympia-Silver Olympic Medal of the International Olympic Committee Olympic Games London 2012

The FEPA medal is awarded to A. Virvilis for his contribution to organized philately.

2014

The 3rd EUROPA Prize is awarded to M. Vardopoulou for the composition "Europa 2014 - National Musical Instruments".

2014

Incorporation of the Philatelic and Postal Museum into the Ministry of Transportation

2014

The HPS organizes the NOTOS 2015 International Philatelic Exhibition with exhibitors from 38 countries.

2015

Transfer of the Philatelic and Postal Museum to the Ministry of Digital Governance (Ministry of Digital Policy)

2017

The HPS organizes the European Philatelic Exhibition NOTOS 2021 in Zappeion Megaron, with the participation of exhibitors from 44 countries.
