Φιλοτελικό Ταχυδρομικό Μουσείο | https://ft-museum.gr Το ΦΤΜ είναι ένα ιδιαίτερο Μουσείοσύγχρονης τέχνης, αλλά και τεχνολογίας, κα θώς για την έκδοση των γραμματοσήμων έχουν εργαστεί διαχρονικά οι σπουδαιότεροι χαράκτες της Ελλάδος, όπως ο Τάσσος, η Κατράκη και ο Κεφαλληνός, ενώ εκτίθενται παλαιά μηχανήματα και συσκευές των ταχυδρομείων. Έργο του Μουσείου είναι η διαφύλαξη και η έκθεση της ταχυδρομικής ιστορίας της χώρας μας με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στον φιλοτελισμό, δηλ. την ιστορία των ελληνικών γραμματοσήμων και η πρόσβαση σε αυτό όχι μόνο των ερευνητών και των φιλοτελιστών, αλλά του ευρύτερου κοινού. History

It is a regular series of stamps with new values printed after the exhaustion of the original ones or with the change of postage rates and colour changes. The series has 9 issues but with the variations it has reached a total of 23 stamps. It is the largest single series in Greece in terms of stamp count.

The chosen stamp depicts Emmanuel Xanthos (1772-1852), a personality who, due to his actions and his origins, is associated with two important events that took place in March.

The first event is the declaration of the Revolution in 1821. Emmanuel Xanthos, together with Nikolaos Skoufas and Athanasios Tsakalov, founded in 1814 in Odessa, Russia, the secret revolutionary organisation called the Society of Friends. Its aim was to coordinate and organize the efforts of the enslaved Greeks for their liberation from the Ottoman Empire.

The second event has to do with Xanthos' birthplace, Patmos. The islands of the Dodecanese, including Patmos, have known many conquerors in their history: the Knights Hospitallers in 1309, the Ottoman Turks in 1522, the Italians in 1912, the German army and the British. The latter had control of the Dodecanese for a time until they became part of the Greek state with the official incorporation ceremony that took place on 7 March 1948.

History

An eminent European figure was the French-Swiss banker and warm-hearted philhellene Ioannis Gabriel Eynard (Lyon 28.12.1775 - Geneva 5.2.1863). Successful business activities and knowledge of the economic mechanisms of the time secured him wealth and recognition in the upper European circles.

His acquaintance with Ioannis Kapodistrias will be decisive as he instilled in him the love for the Greek Revolution. His action during the Revolution was decisive as he contributed to the raising of money for the purchase of ammunition and managed to influence influential personalities of Europe over the Greek rights.

After the Revolution, Eynard served as an unofficial financial advisor to Ioannis Kapodistrias. He persuaded him to emphasize the development of the countryside by providing free funds and offering cultivation loans to farmers given through the establishment of a banking organization.

Kapodistrias, by decree, established in Aegina on February 2, 1828, the '' National Financial Bank'' funded by Eynard, King Louis of Bavaria and Kapodistrias. The new bank, headed by Georgios Stavrou, survived for only six years (1828-1834) as it could not cover the abysmal budget deficits.

However, the bank managed to contribute significantly to the reorganization of the army, the reconstruction of the fleet and the suppression of piracy; the administration's first organization, the maintenance of low-income families; the financing of reconstruction projects in the country.

The establishment of the National Bank of Greece in 1841 was Eynard's and Stavros's following banking vision. His services to Greece continued in 1847 when he faced the demands of the English bankers for the 1832 loan to Greece while he paid half a million gold francs himself to satisfy them.

Eynard died in Geneva on February 5, 1863. In his honour, the National Bank has named the building that houses its Educational Foundation (MIET) "Eynard's Mansion", and the Municipality of Athens gave his name to a central street.

ΠFirst day of release: 17th July Today's village of Vergina at Imathia Prefecture was the first ancient capital of the Macedonian Kingdom, Aegae, "the place with many herds" and the seat of the Temenid kings who reigned from the middle of the 7th-4th c. B.C. The best well-known family members were Philip II (382-336 BC) and Alexander the Great (356-323 BC).

In Vergina, on 8th November 1977, the most important archaeological discovery of the 20th century in Greece came to light. Professor at the University of Thessaloniki, Manolis Andronikos and his team excavated a two-room vaulted chamber in the Great Tomb area, recognized as the tomb of the Macedonian king Philip II.

The great surprise of Professor Andronikos was that the tomb was unlooted and contained valuable royal grave gifts. Thus, came to light the famous golden larnax (coffin) with the lion feet that bear the sixteen-pointed sun or star - a symbol of the Macedonian dynasty where, inside, there were the cremated remains of the king, topped with an intricately woven golden diadem in the shape of a wreath with golden plates of leaves and acorns; a more miniature larnax with a twelve-pointed star; a bronze shield and bronze leggings; silver vessels and copper utensils. The tomb also featured a fresco depicting a hunting scene that may have been the favourite pastime of the deceased

History

Georgia Vassiliadou (maiden name Athanassiou) was born in the Kypseli district of Athens on New Year's Eve in 1897. She was forced to leave school to help support her family financially. She studied vocal music at Gennadio School, and in 1922 she made her first artistic appearance as a choir at the Lyric Theater of Greece. She collaborated with the most famous theatrical troupes of the time, such as Kyveli, Marika Kotopouli, Emilios Veakis and Dimitris Myrat.

In the mid-thirties, she receded from the world of entertainment and came back in 1939 by the writer's invitation - director Alekos Sakellarios to participate in the comedy "Girls of Marriage".

She evolved into one of the most cosmopolitan comedians, the "most beautiful ugly" of Greek cinema, who managed to convey that a person should be judged by his inner charm, kindness, the greatness of soul and not by his external appearance. Until the late '60s, she starred in many comedies and formed her troupe. She died on February 12, 1980, and was buried in the First Cemetery of Athens.

At the International Postal Congress in Paris in 1948, it was decided that the members of the Universal Postal Union would issue in 1949 a commemorative stamp to mark the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Union's founding. A competition was announced for the publication's design in Greece, which did not yield the expected results. The Hellenic Post Office commissioned the stamp's design to the Fine School Arts Ioannis Kefallinos (1874-1949), professor at the Fine School of Arts, inaugurating their collaboration until 1954.

The theme of the stamp is "The teenager of Marathon". Τhe teenager was a bronze statue of a teenager winner of races found in Marathon in 1927 and dated back to the 4th c., e.g. The stamp became the reason to honour our country twice: in 1950, as the most beautiful stamp of the commemorative edition in the world and its proclamation as one of the ten most beautiful stamps of the year by the Philatelic Review Stamp Collector's Annual in London.

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) (Universal Postal Union, in French Union Postale Universelle) was founded on October 9, 1874, by the Treaty of Bern. It was initially called the General Post Union and aimed at the smooth and coordinated postal communication between states according to detailed rules of procedure. UPU. Mutually committed its members to facilitate the handling of mail at no extra charge and recognise other countries' stamps. From 1947 UPU joined the U.N., maintaining its headquarters in Bern, with the participation of all member states of the Organization. The Union aims to continuously improve the quality of postal services through international cooperation, providing advice, mediation and technical assistance in this direction.
